The 12th Annual Sport Awards took place at Emperors Palace in the City of Ekurhuleni.

The Minister of Sport and Recreation the honourable Mr TW Nxesi on 27 October announced the nominees for the 2017 SA Sport Awards. Minister Nxesi pointed out that SASA is about acknowledging and celebrating sport excellence and also recognizing sport achievement on and off the field of play. “When rewarding we also look into conduct of our sport stars and the role they play being our ambassadors.

Crowned tonight in the various categories the winners are as follows:

The Awards carry a total of Nineteen (19) categories including the Minister of Sport and Recreation Award categories. The categories recognise: individuals; males; females; people with a disability; national and international participants; national federations; recreation bodies, schools, indigenous games, sport legends, media and community sport builders.

The South African Sport Awards are part of Sport and Recreation South Africa’s commitment to promote social cohesion and nation building through Sport & Recreation. The key objective of the Sport Awards is acknowledging and celebrating sport excellence, reward sport achievement in and off the field of play.
